Privacy Policy

1. Overview

ZenFirst is a productivity application available on desktop (macOS, Windows) and mobile (iOS, Android). How your data is handled depends on the platform you use. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about what data we collect.

2. Data Storage

  • Desktop: All routine data — journal entries, task lists, session history, streaks, and settings — are stored locally on your device in a SQLite database. This data never leaves your computer unless you explicitly choose to export it.
  • Mobile: Routine data is stored in Google Cloud Firestore (hosted in the United States) and associated with your authenticated account. This enables cloud sync and cross-device access. Local preferences (theme, onboarding progress) are stored on-device only.

3. Data We Collect

  • Authentication data (Mobile): When you sign in via Apple, Google, or email magic link, Firebase Authentication stores your email address, display name, and a unique user ID. We use this solely to identify your account and associate your data.
  • Routine data (Mobile): Journal entries, task lists, module configurations, session history, and streaks are stored in Firestore under your user account.
  • Transaction ID (Desktop): Your purchase transaction ID is stored locally for license verification. No other data is transmitted during this process.
  • Payment information: All payment processing is handled by third-party providers (see Section 5). We never see or store your credit card details, billing address, or other financial information.
  • No analytics or tracking: ZenFirst does not include any analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, or tracking of any kind on any platform.

4. Data We Do NOT Collect

  • Your IP address or precise location
  • Device identifiers or fingerprints
  • Usage patterns, analytics, or behavioral data
  • Contacts, photos, or other device data
  • Screen Time data — the App uses Apple's Screen Time API solely to block/unblock selected apps; it does not read or store your screen time usage data

5. Third-Party Services

  • Google Firebase (Mobile): Used for authentication (Firebase Auth) and cloud data storage (Firestore). Data is processed under Google's Firebase Privacy Policy.
  • RevenueCat (Mobile): Used for in-app purchase and subscription management. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
  • Paddle.com (Desktop): Used for payment processing and subscription management. See Paddle's Privacy Policy.
  • Apple & Google (Mobile): In-app purchases are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store under their respective privacy policies.
  • YouTube (optional, Desktop): If you add video routine modules, YouTube content is loaded via embedded iframes. See Google's Privacy Policy.

6. Screen Time & App Blocking (Mobile)

On iOS, ZenFirst uses Apple's Screen Time API (FamilyControls framework) to block access to apps you select during your morning routine. This permission is granted explicitly by you during onboarding and can be revoked at any time in your device's Settings. ZenFirst does not read, collect, or transmit any Screen Time usage data. The API is used solely to apply and remove app restrictions.

7. Data Deletion

  • Desktop: All data is stored locally. Uninstall the application or delete the database file to remove all data.
  • Mobile: You can delete your account and all associated cloud data from within the App's settings. Upon account deletion, all Firestore data and Firebase Authentication records are permanently removed. You may also contact us at the email below to request data deletion.

8. Children's Privacy

ZenFirst is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Significant changes will be notified through the application.
